For grades K-2, the TRC component of Reading 3D will be used to determine growth. SAS/EVAAS and Amplify have both completed an analysis of the pilots. The results of the analysis have been presented to the State Board of Education. The pilot study involved different ways of administering the EOY TRC to see which way produced the truest indication of a student’s actual EOY TRC reading level. Please begin planning to match different teachers/certified staff in schools so that the teacher of record is not assessing his/her own class for TRC at EOY. Memo addressing Standard 6 Process for K-2 Teachers:
This memo explains why 2013-14 has become an "implementation pilot" for developing student growth estimates for K-2 teachers. NCDPI has determined that K-2 assessment data from the 2014-15 school year will count as the first year of data toward their three year rolling average. As a result of this decision, K-2 teachers will receive their first status at the end of the 2016-17 school year provided they have three years of valid data. Posted 2.5.15
EVAAS Roster Verification Information for K-2 Teachers:
NCDPI does plan to use assessment data from TRC for determining student growth measures for K-2 teachers in the 2014-15 school year. Please advise your schools that K-2 teacher rosters should not be deleted from the roster verification system. All teachers (including K-2 teachers) must validate their student rosters to ensure accuracy in determining student growth. If teachers and administrators do not validate rosters, the default position is that the teacher is responsible for 100% of the instruction of the students who are on record in PowerSchool. Neither NCDPI nor SAS-EVAAS will be able to correct rosters for teachers after the roster verification phase has closed. Posted 4.20.15
